Fun story - Feb 22

I've officially become one of "those" parents. Like the dad who took video of the kids falling on ice for everyone on Facebook to laugh at (it was pretty funny... But oh so wrong). One if those parents who shares embarrassing stories on Facebook with the justification that "they'll never know...and if they do find out they'll be old enough to laugh about it". One of those parents who just laugh when their child is doing something that irritates themself but can't figure out how to stop it...but I couldn't get my camera out in time for video.

Baby Girl is really done with the nasal cannula. She's tired of it. She's worked her way through getting this off four times already and they keep putting her back on one (for good reasons obviously, but she doesn't know that). This morning she figured out that she can get her fingers between the tube and her face and pull it out of her nose. What she doesn't understand is that it's taped to her face. So every time she let's go it pops back into place in her nose. And she doesn't like that at all... So she pulls it back out and then let's go - you see the pattern. I was too proud that she had that much control in her fingers to discourage it...and it was pretty funny watching her facial expression get madder and madder every time it popped back.

She's down to 9 pounds 6 ounces with all of the fluid retention gone. Her IV site was starting to get puffy this morning, but she was on such a low dose of fluids (she had maybe 12 hours left) that they went ahead and took it out and will just increase her feeds more instead of trying to stick another site in for such a short amount of time. Hopefully the increase in feeds will help her build her weight back up. One more decrese in pressure on the nasal cannula and we'll be done with that and then - for the first time since she was born - she will have NOTHING on her face! No tubes in her nose, nothing in her mouth, no needles in her head!!!! Be prepared for an on-slaught of adorable unobstructed pictures soon :)

Big Sisters got to come visit for the first time in quite a while (they've been gone the last three weekends) so I was glad the nurse took the IV out before they got there. I was worried how they would react to a needle in her scalp. Little Big Sister (that's what she started calling herself - "because I'm big but I'm still little") made Baby Girl smile a lot so she was pretty excited about that. Then we tried to take some pictures...and she got a little goofy:

In the top right one she was trying to make a face like Baby Girl. Daddy and Big Big Sister spent some time with her before we left for the day also - there's no picture because C was too busy trying to figure out how to make her stop crying. Turns out she needed her diaper done so that was a first for both of them (yes...Daddy's first diaper - and not going to be the last). It's a different experience trying to change a baby with wires and tubes everywhere but big sister did a good job :)

Tomorrow should be a slow and quiet day - LIttle Big has been dying for her turn to get to change Baby Girl's clothes so hopefully the nasal cannula will be gone so she can do that.
