Baby Girl was sound asleep when I got to the hospital this morning...but woke up smiling when she heard me and the doctor talking :)
She had a good night; didn't need any medications and slept soundly. She weighed in at 10 pounds this morning - some of it is water retention from the surgery and medicines but that will clear out soon. Her lungs sound great , but they're going to keep her on the nasal cannula and wean her off slowly. They've got her on room air and pretty low pressure (4 liters) so should only be 4ish days until that's gone.
Her bowels are moving again (yay poop!) so they started her on a continuous feed this morning - she hasn't had anything except IV fluids since Monday at 2:00 am so I bet she's enjoying that! They'll run continuous feed for a few days to make sure her stomach can hande it, the tube is working and there are no other issues. Then they'll switch her over to intermittent feeds as they increase the volume. I got to learn about cleaning the site this morning and how to clear the tube. Lots to learn that they don't write about in "What to Expect"!
So here are Baby Girl's 2 month milestones:
- Full range of motion in her elbows
- Very attentive to what's going on around her (aka: nosy, as the nurse said today)
- Leg flexibility is greatly increasing
- Can grasp at Mama's fingers and toys (and ventilator tubes)
- Smiling at pretty much anyone who will talk to her
- LOVES music from her mobile, swinging and rocking
- Not so much a fan of having her arms swaddled; hand and feet casts; IVs, lead wires, breathing tubes and anything else Mama won't let her pull on
Happy 2 Months Baby Girl! Let's get you home before three rolls around :)

Happy two months, Lexi! Glad she is growing and progressing so well! There's nothing sweeter than a smiling, chubby baby! I'm sure there was nothing you could've read that could've fully prepared you for what y'all have had to go through, but the faith and trust in God that y'all have shown in the midst of all of these trials has been so encouraging and a true Christian example to so many. We are so blessed by your family! We love you all and continue to remember y'all in our prayers.
Such wonderful progress! And yes, celebrating poop sounds funny to anyone who hasn't had the opportunity to see that God planned our bodies perfectly, including the self cleaning part...when that get out of kilter, then starts working it's time for the happy dance! So glad she's smiling and progessing so divinely!
