The pulminologist came by today and is concerned that she's still on the cannula and casually asks "has anyone said anything about neck or throat surgery yet?" LOOP
They've been trying to wean the oxygen level on her nasal cannula down below 24% and 2L pressure for the last two days, but every time they get to 22% her oxygen saturation levels drop and they have to go back up to 24%. This morning, the nurse had her down to 22% holding steady for about an hour when Dr. G came by and said she wants to drop the pressure down to 1.5L since she'll be here all day to monitor her and can see what's going on. Then she says "I think I'll see about getting her a sleep study so that we can make sure she isn't closing off her airway in her sleep; especially since she can't really cry yet (whole other story). We wouldn't want her to start choking in her sleep and you not be able to hear her at home!" LOOP
The pulminology team is also concerned about how heavily she's still having to breath and whether that's an airway issue or a lung issue so they wanted to order a sonogram and echocardiogram just to check on her heart while we're at it . LOOP
They decreased her pressure to 1.5L and about 15 minutes later had to go back to 24%. LOOP
She's not gaining weight back as much as the doctor would like after her surgery so we're going to start fortifying her milk again (she's back down to 9 pounds - but she's 21 inches now!). LOOP
That was all before lunch.
After lunch was a little calmer:
They spaced out her feedings more - 80 mL over two hours instead of 2.5 hours.
PT put the new hand splints on - they worked fine for the fingers, not so much for the wrists so back to the drawing board for that.
They got her down on the floor for a little play time, some tummy time (she's still not a fan) and they traced her hand to try a glove type splint with a hard something for her wrist (she wasn't a fan of that either).
Hopefully tomorrow is more of a carousel than a roller coaster.

Oh Ruby ♡ ... look at the grin on that baby's face...she knows she is loved ...God is keeping Baby Girl right where she needs to be for whatever rhyme & reason He sees fit...home would be so much more comfortable & convenient right now but, as you've said before, not if Baby Girl isn't ready. Ruby Moseley, you & Caleb were hand picked by Love to be the parents of three of His most precious possesions ...you two are doing an amazing job ...praying for you all... ♡
What a day! Ruby, I respect you and Caleb so much for your patience and faith through these struggles. God is so good, and your faith in Him will continue to hold you up through every turn of the roller coaster. I am so thankful for the doctors and medical staff that have done an amazing job helping Lexi progress. To look at that sweet smile, you would never know that anything is wrong. I can't wait to see her again!
