The Shed Project

I've been living with a family from the church here since the end of May (why? you might ask) and they have a shed in their back yard. Not like a tiny, falling apart, toss all the stuff on the way to the dump kind of shed, but a nice, 290 square foot, wood floor and good roof shed. Looks like this:

It's about 13.5' wide and almost 22' long and it's going to be my new home. We're working right now on the re-modelling and I'm getting more excited to see it come together!

Here's the inside: (the picture doesn't do well in portraying the size)

The plan:
  • Upgrade the electricity
  • Run plumbing
  • Little bit of framing to block off the bathroom
  • Dry wall work on the walls
  • Leave the wood floor
  • Kitchen area along the left hand wall
  • Living area along the right hand wall
  • The shelves in the very back will become a loft bed
  • Closet underneath the bed

Here's what I've done so far:
  • Cleared out all of the things that were being stored in there
  • Swept it out
  • Dug trenches (almost done)
  • Bought all of the appliances.

The last part was definitely the most fun part because it made it seem a little more real. I'll work on getting some pictures posted of those soon. Quick plug: Habitat for Humanity Restore... great discount appliances and building materials, 100% supports your local Habitat group.

My Dad is coming to help us run the plumbing this week and maybe the electric too so after that is set, we can start on the framing and walls and such.

Pictures and progress reports will be added as they area available!
