The fluid build up in her lungs, caused by the ventilator tube, has turned into pneumonia. So now not only does she have a third IV site for antibiotics (she's got one in her head, one in her foot and now one in her arm) but they don't want to take her off of the ventilator because her lungs aren't strong enough. In order to take her off they would need to give her a shot of steroids to help boost her lung function, but right now giving her that shot would just boost the pneumonia, not her lungs.
So she is on a dose of high power antibiotics to help break up the pneumonia and fluids caused by the breathing tube that they won't take out until the pneumonia is gone.
Someone in the medical profession please explain this to me?!?!

My God is so BIG
So strong and so MIGHTY
There's nothing my GOD CANNOT do!
He's working on that baby girl so that she becomes the strongest Lexi she can be...so that once she comes home, all this mess is already out of the way and she can STAY at home! Love you!
Oh, Ruby!! I know this is so frustrating! Sending hugs your way and offering up prayers to our all-powerful God on behalf of Lexi, you, and Caleb! Love you!!
It's a catch 22, with the pneumonia if they take the tube out she could stop breathing and need it back in to help her, she needs the tube to help her breath, if they take it out without the specialist she may need the tube back in and then there's noone to put it back, pneumonia is a huge risk with intubation. We put something there that shouldnt naturally be there, our bodies dont want them there so our bodies react the way they are supposed to, we try to fight it with medications, suctioning, and so on but sometimes nature wins the battles but then we bring out the big guns and try to win the war. With children our options are limited, especially tinies like Baby Girl, we cant give them anything that will hurt them in the long run so that makes it that much harder. Luckily tinies are also resilient, they can survive things that adults cant, and they can survive them without long term issues, that's just the amazing design of our Lord. We are praying for Baby Girl and your entire family every single day, the Lord works in amazing ways, and I hope the love being poored out on that little girl from so many brings you comfort. We love you guys so much Ruby and we will always be here for you!
