Slow Saturdays

Saturdays have been our calm and relaxing days with Baby Girl. The therapists only work M-F except in special cases so I do a little bit of the stretching with her, but other than that we just kind of hang out.

Today Dr. G is back and commented on how much more red her hair looks than last week - which I didn't notice until she pointed it out. My brothers and I have red highlights that really stand out when we're in the sun...maybe she'll end up with those!

Dr. G also talked with us more about considering the option to go with the feeding tube in the stomach. At this point, she thinks that is the more realistic option vs waiting to see how much / how quickly Baby Girl improves. We'll talk with the therapists on Monday / Tuesday and get their input on her progress and then make a decision. If / when they do this surgery it will actually be three surgeries in one time frame: they would insert the feeding tube (G-tube), tighten the top of the esophagus to reduce the chances of reflux (called a fundoplication) and fold in part of her diaphragm to relieve some of the pressure on her lung. All of that will take some time to coordinate so it would be about a week or so to get her on the schedule and then 1-2 weeks of recovery before she would be able to come home. Please pray for us over the next couple of days as we are facing these decisions and doing our research to be informed about what all is going on, and that she continues to make progress.

On a lighter note, check out this video of her kicking her legs around! SO much more flexibility in the last week!

We're proud of you Baby Girl - keep fighting!

Wide awake and waiting for her lunch time feeding to start!
