Leaps and Bounds - Jan 24

It's amazing how much better you feel about things when they just LOOK better.

Dr. G mentioned the possibility of moving her of the CPAP and back to a nasal canula this evening to see how she does. It's still assisted breathing, but it's not a huge mask strapped to her head covering her whole face. She looks much more comfortable with her breathing and is much more relaxed than she was even just yesterday.

The IVs are all gone! That means no more antibiotics, no more steroids, no more pain meds and no more IV fluids! No needles means no tape and no board wrapped around her arm to hold it in place. The only thing being pumped into her today is milk - 18 mL an hour! And she's had plenty of diaper changes to let them know she's ready for that increase :)

Even though it was an almost two hour drive to get here today because of the weather / people-can't-drive-in-ice conditions and I didn't get to stay as long as usual, it was worth it just for these two things! So maybe leaps and bounds isn't the correct description, but it feels like we're almost back to where we were before the surgery.
